Sample X-ray: dealer warranty system

A 2003–2012 Microsoft Access app that still runs, with 12 verified defects that put money and data at risk. The rebuild fits our smallest fixed-price tier.

Size9 forms, 25 queries, 20 tables, 3 reports, about 2,800 lines of VBA
Business rulesAbout 45, each catalogued with where it lives in the app
Worst defectWarranty tags always printed claim #15's parts, whichever claim was on screen
Money riskEvery price and rate stored as a 32-bit float, and totals that could add in another job's lines
What breaks whenAccess 2021 support ends Oct 13, 2026. From 2030, a typed "30" becomes 1930. Duplicate claim numbers once two people enter claims at the same time.
RebuildFixed price, from $6,000. The rebuilt money logic already matches the original on 133 of 133 totals.
How we checked. We read the code, then extracted the real database file, then ran the original app in an isolated machine and recorded what it does. Two suspected bugs turned out to be false alarms, so they're not in the report. Only findings confirmed in the database file itself made it in.

About this sample: it's a public open-source app (MIT licence), not a client engagement. Every name, phone number, address and account number in its data was replaced with test values before the analysis. The full report is available on request.
